![]() ![]() It is one of five municipalities in the state of New Jersey with the name " Washington Township". ![]() The township was named for George Washington, one of more than ten communities statewide named for the first president. Portions of the township were taken on February 20, 1868, to create Washington Borough. Washington Township was incorporated as a township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on April 9, 1849, from portions of Mansfield Township. Mansfield Township, also in Warren County, borders both this municipality and another Washington Township in Morris County. Washington Township, Warren County completely surrounds the borough of Washington. The township is one of six municipalities in New Jersey under the name Washington (one of which is a borough, five of which are townships). As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 6,492, a decrease of 159 (−2.4%) from the 2010 census count of 6,651, which in turn reflected an increase of 403 (+6.5%) from the 6,248 counted in the 2000 census. We can see now that as part of the initial broader site preparation work, a full common sidewalk was created around the property on the two main bordering roadways, as well as the driveways in and out of the two individual projects are developed.įrom there the development was turned over to the two individual developers for the Wawa and the Burger King properties.Washington Township is a township in Warren County, in the U.S. Wawa will be directly next to it, and closer to the main Five-Points intersection.Īs is the case with many of these larger projects there are a series of developers and owners in the mix through the entire timeline. The new Burger King will sit at the traffic light corner of Egg Harbor Rd. This development property was made significantly larger a few years ago when the Blackwood-Barnsboro Road was adjusted to be further away from the core busy intersection, creating a larger parcel of land that will support both a Super Wawa (with gas station) and a new Burger King. Construction for an all-new Burger King at Five-Points Washington Twp joins the “Super” Wawa project that is going up on the same extended lot. ![]()
